This week’s 346th prompt word pairing is Slip and Time
As ever, if you want to read proper examples of Haiku writing–or have a go at it yourself– follow that link. But, while you’re here, it’ll only take a few seconds to read mine, which follows.

Oh dear.
Sorry, we seem to have been slipping backwards through time a bit there.
When were we…?
Ah, yes, an offer you can’t refuse. My haiku.
one too many times
the tributes and dues slip
sleep with the fishes
Thank you for visiting Scribblans today. Sorry it probably wasn’t very good.
This bit of text here used to be me wittering on and effectively begging you to share the post, but I have decided not to bother with all that for 2021. Most people ignore it anyway.

Although in this case the ‘sleep with the fishes’ refers to the unnamed personage who may soon find themselves ‘asleep’ in the deep water, and not to the fishes already there–in either an asleep or awake state themselves–the question deserves an answer.
But I can’t answer it–well, I couldn’t but I could now–so I’ll let these people do it for you. https://www.sciencefocus.com/nature/do-fish-sleep/
In the meantime, keep up your payments.
